In-house counsel face significant challenges when it comes to career development. In a law firm, you have colleagues who are also looking to develop their legal skills. The law firm may even offer internal training programs.  If you work in Boston, it will likely be easier for you to take advantage of many opportunities for professional development and networking at bar association seminars and events.   In a corporate setting, you may only work with one or two other lawyers, and, if you work on the 128 corridor, getting into Boston may take some planning.  In short, as in-house counsel, advancing your career is much more your own responsibility.

At this seminar, three seasoned career coaches (including one with two decades of experience as a legal recruiter) will speak with you about how to manage and develop your career. They will discuss ways you can find more career fulfillment in your in-house role and how to plan for the future.  This seminar will be structured as a participatory workshop format, so come prepared to ask questions and leave the seminar with an action check list for your own career.

The panelists will address a wide mix of topics including:

  • Maximizing your current position
  • Internal advancement
  • Building your brand on-line and in more traditional ways
  • Working with and overcoming limiting beliefs
  • Networking skills-how to build your network more effectively
  • Knowing your business and your industry
  • Creating an action plan for yourself
